Yogi govt allows free travel from city buses along with roadways to women
Instructions issued by the Transport Corporation and the Directorate of Urban Transport
Lucknow, August 28: On the auspicious occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has allowed free travel for women in UP roadways along with city buses across the state. This order will be followed from August 29 midnight to August 31 midnight.
After this order, women will be exempt from purchasing roadway tickets for travel within the state during a specific time frame, while they will also not be charged for any commute in the city buses.
The Transport Corporation and Directorate of Urban Transport have issued guidelines in accordance with the Chief Minister’s order.

Transport Corporation issued an order saying that similar to previous years, this year also on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ women will be permitted to occupy seats in all Transport Corporation buses from 12:00 pm on August 29th to 12:00 pm on August 31st.
The government has taken the decision to provide free travel facilities so that women don’t have to pay fares for their bus rides within the fixed time frame.
It is recommended to take the necessary steps to promote this initiative, ensuring more women can benefit from this facility. Additionally, the Directorate of Urban Transport has issued instructions for major cities in the state (such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Moradabad, Jhansi, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Shahjahanpur, Agra, and Mathura-Vrindavan) to take action through SPV to provide free travel for women in city buses.
It will be effective from 12:00 midnight on August 29, 2023, till 12:00 midnight on August 31, 2023, during this festival.
