Efforts are being undertaken to strengthen & empower the poor : PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) in Madhya Pradesh via video conferencing. The Prime Minister had recently interacted with PMGKAY beneficiaries in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh also.

5 crore beneficiaries are getting the benefit of PMGKAY

Madhya Pradesh is celebrating 7th August 2021 as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana Day. The Governor and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh were also present on the occasion. About 5 crore beneficiaries are getting the benefit of the scheme in the state.

The Prime Minister began his remarks by discussing the rains and floods in Madhya Pradesh, which have impacted lives and livelihoods in the state. He told them that the central government and the entire country are with them in this tough time.

India accorded the highest priority to the poor: PM Modi

Referring to the Corona pandemic as a once in a century calamity, PM Modi said that the entire nation stood united against the challenge. He reiterated that, in the strategy for dealing with the crisis, the highest priority was given to the poor. From the beginning, attention was paid to food and the employment of the poor and labourers.

30 thousand crore rupees directly transferred to Jan-Dhan accounts

Not only 80 crore people are receiving free rations, but over 8 crore families are receiving free gas cylinders. 30 thousand crore rupees were directly transferred to the Jan-Dhan accounts of more than 20 crore women. Thousands of crores of rupees were also deposited to labourers’ and farmers’ accounts. PM also informed that thousands of crore rupees will be transferred in the bank accounts of about 10-11 crore farmer families on 9th August.

50 crore vaccine doses administered

Citing the recent milestone of administering 50 crore vaccine doses, the Prime Minister mentioned that India is vaccinating the population equal to many countries of the world in just a week. “ This is a new capability of new India, India who is becoming Aatmnirbhar,” he said.

PM stated that every effort is being made to ensure that the least amount of damage should occur in India amid this unprecedented global crisis on livelihood. Small and micro industries have been given assistance worth lakhs of crores of rupees so that they can continue to operate and ensure livelihood to the stakeholders. Initiatives like the One Nation One Ration Card, the scheme for fair rent, an affordable and easy loan through PM Svanidhi, infrastructure projects helped the labour class a great deal.

Talking about the advantages of double engine government at the state, the Prime Minister lauded the state government for record MSP(Minimum support price) purchase. This year, Madhya Pradesh, purchased wheat from more than 17 lakh farmers and 25 thousand crore rupees were directly deposited in their account.

Buy some local handicraft products during the upcoming festivals

On National Handloom Day today, the Prime Minister remembered that the Swadeshi Movement began on August 7, 1905. He underlined that the country is currently undergoing a large effort to empower the rural, impoverished, and tribal sectors, with the goal of encouraging and promoting our handicraft, handloom, and workmanship in textiles.

The Prime Minister added that Khadi, which had been neglected, has now resurfaced as a flourishing brand. “As we continue on our 100-year path of freedom, we must enhance the spirit of independence in Khadi,” the Prime Minister remarked. During the upcoming festivitals, he urged people to purchase local handicrafts.
