Prayagraj, March 5: The Cleanliness campaign initiated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the conclusion of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj is now being actively continued by local citizens and students. As part of this effort, students and teachers of Lala Manmohan Das Intermediate College organized a cleanliness drive in Sector 18 of the Kumbh Mela area.
The initiative aims to reinforce the commitment to a Swacch Mahakumbh, ensuring that the spirit of sanitation and environmental responsibility remains strong even after the event’s conclusion.
More than 100 NCC, Scout, and Guide students actively participated in the Cleanliness campaign, taking up brooms to collect polythene and other waste from drains and open spaces. Alongside their efforts, they also spread awareness by forming a human chain to deliver the message of cleanliness.
College Principal Dr. Niranjan Kumar Singh, Sector Magistrate, and several teachers also joined the initiative. Encouraging the students, Dr. Singh emphasized that cleanliness is not just a campaign but a fundamental value in life.
Highlighting the scale of the effort, Dr. Niranjan Kumar Singh noted that while high-level cleanliness management was carried out for crores of devotees during Mahakumbh, certain areas still had accumulated polythene and waste, which needed to be removed for environmental sustainability. He added that such initiatives help instill the habit of cleanliness among students and play a crucial role in keeping the Ganga banks clean.
The students of Lala Manmohan Das Inter College, situated along the Ganga in Jhunsi, took a pledge to continue the Swachhata Abhiyan in the future and to spread awareness about cleanliness in society.
